Stainless Foldover Construction
Use one fresh washer during each fluid service.
The rounded hollow profile compresses progressively as the drain plug is tightened. This construction differs from a flat solid washer and is designed for applications using Suzuki 09168-14004.
Simple Installation
Always follow the torque specification for your exact model.
Remove the used washer, clean the drain plug and sealing surface, place one fresh washer flat under the bolt head, then tighten the plug to the specification in your vehicle service manual.
- Replaces Suzuki 09168-14004, written in full as 09168-14004-000 and listed in the parts catalogue by its own dimensions as gasket 14 x 19.2 x 2. It supersedes 09168-14002, so a service manual printed before the change may still show the older number for this joint. Fifteen rings to a pack, each 14 mm inner by 19 mm outer by 2.2 mm thick, 0.55 in by 0.75 in, stainless with a folded profile.
- The supersession is worth knowing about. The old 09168-14002 was close to 4.8 mm thick and had to be squeezed down through several turns of the drain bolt before it sealed, which is a long run for a fine thread under load. The current washer is roughly half that height and seats much sooner, so fitting the newer ring is not a downgrade in thickness but the change Suzuki made on purpose.
- Foldover construction is a strip of stainless rolled into a hollow rounded ring. It flattens progressively as the bolt comes down to torque instead of crushing solid in a single step the way a flat aluminum washer does, and on a cast sump face that is no longer dead flat after years of service that progressive squeeze is what lets the ring find the surface and hold there instead of bridging a high spot.
- Treat every ring as single use. Once flattened it sits lower the second time and no longer fills the same fine machining marks, which is why a seep that reappears a week after an oil change is usually a reused washer rather than a bolt that wants more torque. Adding torque to a tired ring is how sump threads get stretched, and in an aluminum case that turns a ten minute job into a repair.
- Fits Suzuki models running the 14 mm drain bolt, among them GSX-R600, GSX-R750 and GSX-R1000, Hayabusa, Bandit, SV650, V-Strom 650 and 1000, Boulevard C50 C90 M50 and M90, Burgman 400 and 650, and the KingQuad and Quadrunner ATVs. Drain the oil warm, wipe the sealing face, seat one washer flat under the bolt head with no tilt, and torque to the figure given in your service manual for that model.
